The Professional Aviation Program at Selkirk College is one of Canada’s premier flight training units. It operates in a new multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art Aviation Training Centre at the Castlegar Airport. This facility houses classroom space, 3 FRASCA and 1 ALSIM 200MCC flight simulators, faculty offices and a flight planning and dispatch area. Adjacent to the Aviation Training Centre is the program’s maintenance hangar; used to maintain the aircraft fleet to the highest standards.
The program is seeking a qualified instructor matching one of the following profiles:
PROFILE 1: A CLASSROOM AND SIMULATOR INSTRUCTOR
Areas of instruction may include aircraft systems, meteorology, transport aircraft operations, IFR procedures, CRM and turbine aircraft operations. Applicants must have international Airline Transport pilot experience and CAR's Part 705 operations experience, or equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants with a valid Category 1 Medical or Flight Instructor rating.
PROFILE 2: A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
This individual will prepare students for the Transport Canada multi-engine and IFR ratings, and the commercial pilot license. Applicants must have a current Group I Instrument Rating, a Class I or II Flight Instructor Rating and an Airline Transport Pilot License. Preference will be given to applicants with CAR's Part 704 or 705 flight operations experience or equivalent. Class III or IV instructors with extensive Part 704 or 705 experience may be considered.
In either case, preference will be given to applicants with a relevant diploma, Bachelors degree, advanced degree or previous instructional experience.
This is a continuous, full time appointment commencing August 5, 2008. In accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement, the salary will be $4227.58-$6747.67 per month and is based on education and experience. For further information www.selkirk.ca/aviation.
