Appointment to the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada
April 18, 2008, Ottawa - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, yesterday announced the appointment of Dr. James M. Wallace to the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada (TATC).

"I am delighted that Dr. Wallace has agreed to serve as a member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada," said Minister Cannon. "His experience and success will be a tremendous asset to the tribunal."

Dr. Wallace holds a bachelor of medicine and surgery from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and a diploma in aviation medicine from the Royal College of Physicians of London. He started his career with general medical practice in Nova Scotia and the West Indies, and in 1980 he joined Transport Canada Aviation (TCA) as a regional aviation medical officer for the Ontario region. He is currently a senior consultant in the civil aviation medicine branch at TCA for the policy and standards group, and is also the chairman of the aviation medical review board.

Dr. Wallace is also very active in his community. He is a member of the Ontario Medical Association, Canadian Medical Association, Aerospace Medical Association, Canadian Society of Aerospace Medicine and the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine, to name a few. Dr. Wallace was appointed to the TATC for three years.

The TATC provides an independent review process for anyone who has been given notice of an administrative or enforcement action taken by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities; railway safety inspectors or the Canadian Transportation Agency under various federal transportation acts.
