 June 27, 2008, Montreal - Air Canada President and Chief Executive Officer, Montie Brewer, today announced the retirement of Rob Reid, the airline's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
"Rob has made a significant contribution to Air Canada in the span of his 32-year career with the airline," said Montie Brewer, President and Chief Executive Officer. "He has helped to pilot the airline successfully through unprecedented change in the industry, while continuing to build on Air Canada's world wide reputation for safety and operational excellence. His anticipated retirement is well deserved. Rob will be missed, and I join his many friends and colleagues in thanking him for his unwavering dedication and steadfast direction, from his days as a DC-8 line pilot to his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer."
Rob Reid was appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer in May 2005, with overall responsibility for Flight Operations, Flight Safety, System Operations Control, Inflight Service, Air Canada Maintenance, and Customer Service Strategy and Delivery. He was previously Senior Vice President, Operations.
Mr. Reid joined Air Canada in 1976 as a pilot and has flown a number of different aircraft types. He was Director of Flying Operations for Air Canada's DC9 and Canadair Regional Jet fleet before being appointed Vice President, System Operations Control in October 2000. In March 2003, he assumed the role of President & CEO, Air Canada Technical Services in addition
to his responsibilities as Vice President, System Operations Control. His retirement is effective June 30, 2008.
An announcement on Mr. Reid's successor will be made in the near future.
