Rugged DC Accelerometers for steady state and shock measurements
380-1aSept. 11, 2008 - Measurement Specialties has introduced two rugged and economically priced DC accelerometers for steady state and transient measurement in harsh environments. The compact, hermetically sealed Models 3801A and 4801A incorporate gas-damped MEMS sensing elements with wide frequency response. High performance applications include flight and vehicle testing, transportation measurements, mining, ship shock and environmental testing.

Offered in ranges from ±2g to ±2000g, the accelerometers are suitable for both low-level and high-end transient shock measurements. Integral over-range stops provide shock protection to over 10,000g without affecting calibration.

Model 3801A has a mV output signal for shock pulse measurements. Model 4801A has a signal-conditioned, amplified output for low level measurements. A custom ASIC in Model 4801A provides high integral temperature compensation over a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to 125°C.
The new accelerometers are easy to install, with the popular 10-32 stud mounting and 5-pin side mount connector. Both offer high capability for their size, and attractive pricing.

Measurement Specialties, Inc., designs and manufactures a wide variety of sensors and transducers to measure precise ranges of physical characteristics including pressure, force, vibration, position, humidity and temperature.
