The world's largest passenger aircraft has completed its maiden voyage to the United States amid hopes it will find a market in the American airline industry.
Flying on wings the length of a football field, the four-engine Airbus
A380 touched down at Kennedy International Airport without problems
around 12:10 p.m. today after flying from Frankfurt, Germany.
The eight-hour transatlantic flight gives builder Airbus and German airline Lufthansa a chance to showcase the jet to potential American buyers and to the airports they hope to turn into flight bases for the superjumbo.
The 73-metre-long jet can accommodate up to 550 passengers comfortably and efficiently.
