Canada Aviation Museum reaches out to young Canadians
The Canada Aviation Museum celebrates a century of Canadian flight by reaching out to diverse new audiences using and innovative medium.  In honour of Canada’s aviation achievements the Museum published and launched its new children’s book, “The Fantastic Flight of the Silver Dart,” on Feb. 23, 2009, exactly one hundred years after J.A.D. McCurdy flew off the ice in Baddeck, N.S., aboard the Silver Dart.

The book, written by Museum’s Interpretation Office Linda Brand, offers young readers, schools and communities, an educational tool to introduce the milestone which was the first powered flight in Canada.  (See the book sell sheet)

As part of its national mandate the Canadian Aviation Museum supports and organizes outreach programs such as this one that celebrate Canada’s rich aviation heritage.

The production of the Museum’s new children’s book has been made possible thanks to the National Air Museum Society whose mandate is to promote, foster and encourage safe, sufficient and permanent quarters for the Canadian Aviation Museum’s collection and to offer assistance to the Museum in achieving its goals.

The Canadian Aviation Museum, as Canada’s national museum has earned an international reputation and following and is recognized as having the most extensive aviation collection in Canada, and one which ranks among the finest in the world.
