Oct. 22, 2009, Ottawa – Gladstone Aerospace Corp. (GAC) and the
Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI), the co-producers of NVEO 2009, are
finding that the Conference theme, Integrating Technology and Operations, is resonating very well
with those registering for the November 16-17 event at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa.
Whether the participants are coming from industry, the military, the police or the civil sector, they are
expressing concern about the best way to use Night Vision or Electro-Optical systems to conduct
operations and they hope that the conference participants can address these concerns.
“Even those who are experienced with NVG flying are now trying to determine the best way to
combine NVGs and EO functionality to improve operations without sacrificing safety or increasing crew
workloads.” stated Dr. Todd Macuda, Chief Technical Officer for Gladstone Aerospace.

or resource management has become the main challenge in conducting safe operations as these NV
and EO systems are introduced into the cockpit. They are capable of providing the crew with better
information but their use needs to be optimized to ensure the crews can handle the strain. This
challenge seems to be the main reason many participants have registered for NVEO 2009 and it will be
addressed by several speakers.”
In addition to presentations, there will be an industry display area for participants to learn more about
products currently on the market. For those curious about the way ahead for NV and EO devices, R&D
specialists will provide information on what is being developed now and what is being looked at long
term.
