June 8, 2010, Montreal – Bombardier Inc. has received a certificate of
air worthiness from Transport Canada for the first of four Global 5000
jets to be operated by the German defence ministry, the company
announced Tuesday.
Bombardier Aerospace said the jets are part of the German defence ministry's modernization program and will be used to transport important persons and for medical evacuation flights.
"This is a significant step toward the completion of this fleet modernization program,'' Derek Gilmour, vice-president of sales, marketing and administration for Bombardier's specialized and amphibious aircraft, said in a statement.
The jets will be completed in Montreal.
"This certificate of air worthiness marks an important milestone for the German Federal Ministry of Defense,'' said Stefan Rauscher, German project manager.
"The speed, comfort, and versatility of the Global 5000 aircraft are a perfect fit with our needs, and we are looking forward to beginning operations with our new jets,'' Rauscher said.
