Aecon awarded contract for Peterborough Airport

Aug. 25, 2010 – Peterborough, Ont. – Construction company Aecon Group Inc. says it has been awarded a $15.6 million design-build contract by the City of Peterborough for the redevelopment of the Peterborough Municipal Airport.

Under the contract, announced Tuesday, Aecon will extend and strengthen existing runways, taxiways and other parts of the airport as well as upgrade the runway lighting. and expand other infrastructure.

The company said the redevelopment will expand the Peterborough Airport's capacity to handle more air traffic.

Construction begins this month on the project and is scheduled for completion next March.
