Sept. 2, 2010, Toronto - After almost two years in the making, aviation enthusiasts, pilots, and everyone fascinated with the wonder of flight will finally have their chance to see the new and highly anticipated weekly magazine-style television series "The Aviators" broadcast for the first time.
The series, created by John Lovelace (former host of "Wings Over Canada") and produced by Toronto's FourPoints Television Productions, showcases the people, places, and planes of North American aviation and stars Toronto-based aviators Sara Rependa, Kurtis Arnold, Jeff Lewis, and Anthony Nalli (also the show's Executive Producer and narrator).
Episode one features segments on the Tiger Moth biplane, the U.S. Air Force's mammoth C5M, an interview with Miracle on the Hudson hero Jeff Skiles, a flat spin survivor, and AirVenture, one of the largest air shows in the world.
"The Aviators is designed to be both entertaining and educational" said Nalli, "It really is all-things-aviation: as we say, 'For everyone who has ever gazed skywards'."
Throughout the season The Aviators promises to take viewers behind the scenes to show how airline pilots train, how planes are built, and how air traffic control works. The show will feature interesting people, the latest aircraft, the coolest technology and the best fly-in destinations.
The Aviators can be seen Saturday mornings at 11:30 on the Global Television Network (in Alberta on Sundays at 7:00 am, and in BC Wednesday and Saturday nights on CHEK). The Aviators will also be broadcast in the United States on Public Broadcasting Stations and has been picked up by Discovery Asia for broadcast in early 2011.
"We're thrilled by the number of broadcasters eager to air the show," continued Nalli. "There's obviously a demand for intelligent, entertaining aviation television and broadcasters and viewers are excited that it's finally here."
