Nov. 2, 2010, Ottawa - Canada’s first French-Canadian air squadron will
be honoured as part of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum Remembrance
Week celebrations on Sunday, November 7.
11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – CF-18 flypast by 425 Squadron, Canada’s first French-Canadian air squadron. Weather permitting
1:30 p.m. – Unveiling of an Avro Lancaster display honouring 425 Squadron, with Sylvain Ménard, Commanding Officer of the Squadron, and Flying Officer François-Guy Savard (ret’d), who was a crew member aboard Lancaster KB 944, the aircraft featured in the display.
2:00 p.m. – First concert of the Centralaires Concert Band series, entitled “Tribute,” in honour of Remembrance Day. The Band is comprised of fifty musicians, some of whom are former members of the Canadian Forces.
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – The Museum will host its Veterans’ Tea and Tour event, featuring tours of the Museum, with behind-the-scenes treasures on display, and craft workshops. Veterans and seniors will have the opportunity to share their memories with family and friends in a beautiful setting.
