April 7, 2011, Oshawa, Ont. - Oshawa Municipal Airport, which serves the Greater Toronto Area, has initiated a feasibility study to determine the viability of extending Runway 12-30 from its current length of 4,000 ft to 5,000 ft., with the provision of an LPV WAAS approach down to a limit of approximately 250 ft.
The study, awarded to GENIVAR, formerly Pryde SchroppMcComb Inc., examines the technical feasibility of extending the runway and assesses the potential business opportunities that may be realized from the proposed runway extension, as well as from the pending closure of Buttonville Airport.
As part of the study, the airport is seeking input from corporate/business aircraft owners who may be interested in operating to/from Oshawa Municipal Airport with the extended runway.
