ACI inaugurates world headquarters
May 3, 2011, Montreal - Airports Council International (ACI) is inaugurating its World headquarters in Montréal today, in collaboration with Montréal International.

The international organization (IO), which comprises 580 member airport authorities operating more than 1,650 airports in 179 countries, will thus be closer to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other air transportation IOs already established in Montréal. ACI World's mission is to promote excellence in airport management and operations around the world and to represent airports interests with Governments and international organizations.

"We are delighted that ACI is joining some 70 international organizations already present in the Montréal region and further enhances our city's international status," says Jacques St-Laurent, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montréal International. "The relocation of such an organization from Geneva to Montréal confirms the attractiveness of Québec's metropolis for international organizations and further enhances our region's status as the world capital of civil aviation."

"The inauguration of our new headquarters in Montréal is an important milestone in our organization's development," says Angela Gittens, ACI World Director General. "We are confident that this move will enhance our ability to represent the interests of airport authorities to ICAO, its member states and its permanent delegations. We will also be better able to coordinate our actions with ICAO's initiatives in the areas of safety, security, the environment, training and operational efficiency."

The assistance Montréal International provided for the relocation of ACI to the Montréal metropolitan region has been made possible by the concerted efforts and financial contributions of its partners: Canada Economic Development, the ministère des Relations internationales du Québec [Québec Department of International Relations] and the City of Montréal.

ACI World Headquarters are located at 800 rue du Square Victoria, Suite 1810, Montréal.
