First Bombardier Global 5000 Enters Service
The first
completed Bombardier Global 5000 business jet has gone into service.
The aircraft departed Montreal on April 18 and is now in service with a
corporate operator based in the Middle East.
Launched in
February 2002, the new Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft combines, under
certain operating conditions, a top cruise speed of Mach 0.89 and a
4,800- nautical-mile range at Mach 0.85, as well as an advanced
business jet cabin featuring the first Ethernet-based Air Show 21
application.
The operator plans to fly its new Bombardier Global
5000 on both transcontinental and intercontinental missions, mostly
throughout Asia and Europe. A Bombardier support team will be based at
the operator’s home.
A.O.G. Air Support Inc. Announces New Sales and Marketing Mgr.
A.O.G. Air Support Inc. has announced the appointment of Bob Williams as its new sales and marketing manager.
Williams
has held senior management positions including head of sales and
marketing for Aero Aviation Inc., vice-president marketing, sales and
international business for AVMAX Group Inc., director heavy
maintenance, BAe 146/RJ85 for Canadian Regional Airlines, and director
customer support/technical sales for British Aerospace Inc.
Williams
also holds Transport Canada licences on M1 and M2 category aircraft,
both rotary- and fixed-wing on a wide variety of types. He also is a
Transport Canadaaccredited instructor on the Bombardier CRJ 200 series,
Boeing 767-200/300 series and the Airbus A330/340 series. He is a
graduate of the Royal Air Force School/College of Halton, England.
New KADEX Facility in Calgary Focuses on Customer Retention and Service
Canadian-owned
independent parts distributor KADEX has settled in nicely at its new
facility in Calgary. The 3,000-square-foot facility opened last
December. Says KADEX president John Lavery, “Calgary is the gateway of
the West. It’s a hub for aviation and there is growing level of
activity there.”
The KADEX facility has access to parts from
more than 20 manufacturers. Lavery said that having a presence in
Calgary allows KADEX to provide a better level of service to customers,
“With our new facility here, we are able to reinforce our commitment to
our customers and provide them with outstanding service.”
KADEX’s head office is in Peterborough, Ontario, where it has been in business since 1994.
Canada’s Top Amateur Pilot Flies with the Snowbirds
For
Blake Drader, who was declared Canada’s top amateur pilot in 2004,
flying with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds was a dream come true.
“It
was the best aviation experience of my life; it was just amazing,” said
Drader after flying with Capt Chuck Mallett, lead solo with the
Snowbirds. “The aircraft was very smooth, very powerful.”
Drader,
20, of Abbotsford, B.C., not only won Air Canada’s prestigious Webster
Memorial Trophy, making him Canada’s top amateur pilot, but also had
the opportunity of flying with the Snowbirds over BC’s Gulf Islands.
“It
is an honour for us to recognize Canada’s up and coming pilots,” said
Maj Ian McLean, commanding officer, Canadian Forces Snowbirds. “We are
proud to be affiliated with the Webster Memorial Trophy program.”
