David Carr Editorial: Onward and Upward

Porter Airlines to start service out of the Toronto City Centre Airport this fall

Written by David Carr
This is my first issue of WINGS as editor, but not my first association with the magazine.
This is my first issue of WINGS as editor, but not my first association with the magazine. I did a bit of freelance work for WINGS in the early 1990s. I have also had the pleasure of covering Canadian air transport and the global airport industry for several British-based trade publications.

For a magazine junkie who has always been interested in the business of aviation, it would appear I have landed the perfect job. It is certainly going to be a challenging position, as WINGS looks at strengthening its editorial line-up. We're still going to publish a full year of themed issues complete with the popular directories that have become a ‘gotta have' in the Canadian aviation community.

We are also adding diversity to our coverage with more articles and analysis on key industry segments in every issue, not just once or twice a year. As always, these reports will be delivered by some of the most talented and best connected writers in Canadian aviation. To this end, Richard Purser, our Calgary-based production editor, whose opinions usually grace this page, will continue to add his voice to the editorial mix on a regular rotation with yours truly.
