CAE starts Hawker Beechcraft King Air 350 training down under
July 31, 2012, Melbourne, Aus. - CAE today inaugurated pilot and maintenance technician training programs in Melbourne, Australia for the Hawker Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft with ProLine 21 avionics.

The inauguration was attended by The Hon Gordon Rich-Phillips, Minister for Technology and Minister for Aviation of the Victorian State Government, aircraft operators, industry representatives as well as CAE employees.

The program features a new CAE 5000 Series full-flight simulator, which was qualified to Level D standards by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). In addition to business aircraft operators, the new King Air 350 simulator will be used for training military pilots. Located in the Ansett Aviation Training facility, the CAE Melbourne location is part of CAE's expanding business aviation training network.

"Australia has been strategically important to CAE for many years. We delivered our first simulator to the country nearly 25 years ago and since then we have sold more than 30 civil aviation and military simulators in the region. Today we provide training services in Sydney and Melbourne and operate two ab initio flight schools," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "Business aviation is an essential part of the transport system in Australia, and CAE is committed to offering its customers world-class training close to home."

CAE currently offers in Australia commercial aviation training in Sydney and operates CAE Oxford Aviation Academy ab initio flight schools in Melbourne and Perth. CAE Australia also has multiple contracts with the Commonwealth of Australia in support of the Australian Defence Forces. These contracts include providing simulation equipment, maintenance support and training services for platforms such as the KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport, C-130H/J transports, MRH90 helicopters, S-70B Seahawk naval helicopters, and S-70A Black Hawk utility helicopter.
