Sept. 26, 2012, Seattle, Wa. - Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas, currently taking place in the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, opened its doors on yesterday with more than 150 exhibitors from 18 countries participating.
The exhibition was deemed the ideal platform for a number of exhibitors
to launch products and give demonstrations to the highly targeted
audience of airlines, OEMs and suppliers.
Kydex took the opportunity to launch its first fully compliant coloured translucent sheet. Kydex FST CTL is the first coloured thermoplastic translucent sheet that meets the compliance mandates of the aviation industry. The line was specifically formulated to meet all Boeing and Airbus toxicity requirements for aircraft interior components and is available in eight colours. Kydex FST CTL provides design flexibility in material selection for three-dimensional components where transparent elements enhance design functionality, such as privacy walls, counter wraps and monuments.
C&D Zodiac, part of Zodiac Aerospace, used the exhibition to showcase ZEO, its groundbreaking design and innovation studio. The company says that ZEO’s philosophy is simple: great design is about the product and the process. It integrates the art and science of the design process, adding Advanced Concepts Engineering and a Mockup and Prototype team to substantially increase the level of talent involved at project inception. By combining these capabilities during the critical formative stages, the level of innovation and product maturity is fully elevated. All of this is accomplished with customers in a more collaborative way. As a result, the final product takes less time to introduce and in many cases far surpasses the original idea.
In other news EADS Sogerma announced the signing of a contract with the Boeing Company to offer Equinox, its fully flat business class seat, on the all-new 787 Dreamliner. This contract signals the first EADS Sogerma product to be included in the 787 catalogue.
Following the signing of a contract earlier this month, Zodiac Seats France (formerly Sicma Aero Seat) has officially become an A350 XWB Airbus Contracted Supplier (ACS) for premium seating products. The two new designs for the A350 WXB ACS catalogue are the Cirrus seat, aimed at the long-haul business class seat market, in a four-abreast herringbone configuration, and the Arcus seat, for regional and higher density business class, with a seven-abreast forward-facing arrangement. Both types convert into full-flat beds. The two seats take full advantage of the extra-wide cabin of the A350 XWB, providing a high level of comfort while preserving seat pitch and seat count. In particular, the herringbone arrangement of the Cirrus seat provides direct aisle access for passengers at a seat pitch of around 42 inches. The products are planned to be displayed in the upcoming revision of the catalogue offering by the end of the year.
