Oct. 24, 2012, Washington, D.C. - Today, the Alliance announces it will join with Ed Bolen, President and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), Craig Fuller, President of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Matt Zuccaro, President of the Helicopter Association International (HAI), and Niel Ritchie, Executive Director of the League of Rural Voters to launch the new Alliance website and highlight some of its recent milestones.
The new Alliance website features an expanded Economic Impact Survey, making the benefits of general aviation more local, a new State & Local Activity page to stay up to date on the latest efforts in specific communities community, an updated news page with more audio and video content and news stories by state, and a new Members Center to allow members to be more engaged in protecting general aviation, hear from other members and share their own story about general aviation.
Recently, the Alliance has collected signatures from more than 100 mayors in a petition to President Obama calling on the Administration to recognize the critical importance of general aviation to local towns and communities around the country and protect the industry from user fees.
In addition, five governors, Governor Dennis Daugaard of South Dakota, Governor C.L “Butch” Otter of Idaho, Governor Mary Fallin of Oklahoma and Governor John Lynch of New Hampshire have in the last year written to President Obama asking him to recognize the critical importance of the general aviation industry to the national economy and communities around the nation. Governors from 45 states have also passed proclamations recognizing the value of aviation and general aviation, highlighting their contributions to each state.
The Alliance will be discussing these achievements as well as highlighting new resources from its recently launched, enhanced website, at a press conference to be held during the NBAA 65th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, Florida.
