Rosen Aviation and Elliot Aviation Partner for Noise-Cancelling Solution
Dec. 17, 2007, Eugene, OR – Rosen Aviation, LLC and Elliott Aviation have partnered to provide a noise-cancelling solution combined with an in-flight entertainment system for King Air 200, 300 and 350 series aircraft.

Elliott Aviation’s Sound Management System (SMS), incorporates UltraQuiet Active Noise Control (ANC), which continually samples interior sound with microphones, sending information to a digital processor. The processor generates mirror image sound waves, which are broadcast through strategically placed loudspeakers, countering the unwanted noise.  The result is a much quieter interior experience for cabin passengers.

“In a turboprop-powered aircraft, most of the noise is created by propeller blades projecting a shockwave against the side of the fuselage,” explains Mark Wilken, Elliott’s Director of Avionics Sales & Product Development.  “The SMS noise-cancelling technology Elliott uses is very similar to the same noise-cancelling principles utilized by Bose in their headphones.  This creates a quiet, comfortable environment, which is much more enjoyable for passengers.”

The SMS adds 79 total pounds to the aircraft and takes roughly two-weeks for installation.  Elliott Aviation’s SMS has been installed on nearly 400 aircraft worldwide.

In combination with the SMS, Elliot is offering Rosen Aviation’s RosenView VX cabin entertainment system with 10.4” LCD Slimline display.  This system provides cabin passengers with a robust moving map, DVD player, and auxiliary input device for personal hand-held devices such as video Ipods® or video gaming systems.  “The RosenView VX is about the size of a DVD player and weighs only 3.5lbs.,” states Jeff Unger, Rosen Aviation’s VP of Engineering.  “The advantage for aircraft owners is that the RosenView VX offers cabin passengers independent entertainment flexibility when additional displays are added. While one is watching a DVD, others can be watching their video Ipods, listen to satellite radio, or play their favorite video games.”
