"The Government's decision to conduct a review of R&D programs was both timely and judicious from a Canadian aerospace industry perspective. Modern and effective R&D programs are critical if Canada is to maintain our position as a global aerospace leader. This report will be important as we continue to work towards improving Canadian R&D programs," said Jim Quick, President & CEO.

Over the coming days we will take the time to review the recommendations with our members specifically, the changes to the SR&ED tax credit and the role of the NRC.

The timing of the report is beneficial as AIAC is preparing for the review of aerospace policies and programs announced in the 2011 Budget.

The AIAC is the national association representing Canada's aerospace manufacturing and services sector. As the world's fifth largest aerospace industry, Canada's aerospace sector generates more than $22 billion and employs nearly 80,000 Canadians. Seventy-eight per cent of Canadian aerospace products were exported. AIAC represents the interests of 400 aerospace companies across Canada.
