Jan. 10, 2008, Halifax – An Air Canada Jazz flight between Halifax and
Fredericton had to make an emergency landing at Halifax Robert L. Stanfield
International Airport Wednesday.

Airport spokesman Peter Spurway says the pilot of the Dash 8
aircraft contacted the tower shortly after takeoff from Halifax to
say that the plane was experiencing a mechanical problem.

Spurway says emergency vehicles were dispatched to the runway,
but the plane landed safely at 6:49 p.m. without incident – no one
was hurt.

The plane landed about 10 minutes after alerting the tower about
the problem.
