Air Canada pilots choose new chair of governing council

March 12, 2012, Toronto - The Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) today elected Captain Jean-Marc Bélanger as Chair for the remainder of its two-year term.

As Chair, Captain Bélanger will preside over MEC meetings and act as the pilots' principle representative to Air Canada on employment matters, including negotiation and administration of their collective agreement. The Chair is also responsible for implementation and administration of the policies of the Association, as directed by the MEC.

Captain Bélanger is based in Toronto and has 33 years' experience as a pilot with Air Canada, currently serving on the Boeing 767. He also has extensive experience with ACPA as an elected official, committee member and, indeed, as a former MEC Chair.

Captain Bélanger's term as Chair will run until December 31, 2013.
