Air Canada reports April traffic

May 5, 2011, Montreal - For the month of April, Air Canada reported a system load factor of 81.9 per cent, versus 82.4 per cent in April 2010, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points.  System traffic increased 11.6 per cent on a system-wide capacity increase of 12.2 per cent. AirCanada reports traffic results on a system-wide basis, including regional airlines from which Air Canada purchases capacity.

"For the month of April, Air Canada reported a system load factor of 81.9 per cent.  Led by a 25.9 per cent increase over the Atlantic, system traffic grew 11.6 per cent compared to the previous year, driven in part by increased demand over the Easter holiday travel period," said Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer.  "These strong results reflect our employees' commitment to offer an award-winning product that is earning our customers' loyalty.  As Air Canada marks North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH), I thank all of our employees for their hard work and dedication to the safe transportation of our customers year long."
