The expanded capabilities includes VOIP functionality allowing passengers and crew to place and receive voice calls via SIP enabled handsets or smartphones with apps available for Android or iOS operating systems. The PBX service provides a full range of features, including domestic and international dialing, the ability to place up to 8 calls simultaneously and a customized auto-attendant enabling inbound callers to ring the desired extension.

The VOIP PBX is a modular design allowing the increased functionality to be added to the Flightstream AOC or it can be added to existing Wi-Fi routers installed in the aircraft.

AirSatOne also announced that it has extended the Flightstream AOC feature set with the addition of Wi-Fi capability. The non-Wi-Fi unit has a list price of $6,930 and the unit with Wi-Fi has a list price of $7,430.  A STC for installation is available through Liberty Partners.

Additionally, AirSatOne also announced that the Flightstream AOC has been certified by Iridium and tested with the first Iridium OpenPort Aero℠ system. A standard Flightstream AOC with acceleration, optimization, compression & caching will be used in a live OpenPort demonstration at the Greenwich AeroGroup booth #2569 at the 2012 NBAA convention.

The Flightstream AOC -001 is a highly specialized router that provides acceleration, optimization and compression service, in addition to an on board billing solution and is designed to be used with existing Wi-Fi routers. The AOC-003 offers the same features with the addition of a built in Wi-Fi router.
