August BizAv traffic bounces back
TRAQPak data indicates that August 2011 business aircraft activity was up 4.0 per cent from July 2011.

Sept. 13, 2011, Cincinnati, Oh. – TRAQPak data indicates that August
2011 business aircraft activity was up 4.0 per cent from July 2011.

Looking at the results for operational categories, Part 91 rebounded from last month posting a gain of 7.4 per cent, and the Part 135 charter segment increased slightly over the previous month, up 0.5 per cent. The fractional segment showed a slight decline in activity, down 0.6 per cent from July. Thanks in large part to gains in the Part 91 market, all aircraft categories showed an increase in activity over July. Looking at individual market segments, the Part 91 mid-size cabin market showed the largest month over month increase, up 9.9 per cent, with Part 91 small cabin and turboprops following, up 8.0 per cent and 7.3 per cent respectively.

Comparing year over year results (August 2011 vs. August 2010) aircraft activity increased slightly up 0.2 per cent. The Part 91 market continues to see positive year over year growth posting an increase of 4.9 per cent from August 2010. The Part 135 market continued to see a decline from the previous year, down 6.9 per cent. The fractional market posted its first year over year decline since February 2011, down 0.6 per cent. Aircraft category results were mainly positive this month, with mid-size cabin on top, up 3.4 per cent, followed by large cabin, up 3.0 per cent, and small cabin, up 2.4 per cent. The turboprop market was the only market to post a decline, down 3.5 per cent. Looking at individual market segments, the Part 91 small cabin segment saw the largest gain with an increase of 10.3 per cent; the fractional small cabin segment had the largest decline in year over year flight activity, down 16.6 per cent.
