B.C. Aviation Council appoints news executive director

The B.C. Aviation Council (BCAC) has announced the appointment Candace McKibbon as its new Executive Director. Ms. McKibbon is a leader among the next generation of aviation professionals. During her time at BCIT studying Airport Operations, she was the President of the Maximum Altitude Club and was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Technologies.

Since graduating, McKibbon has been working at Vancouver International Airport in the Operations Center and volunteers her time with the Aviation Leadership Forum as well as the BCAC Youth Engagement Committee. Ms. McKibbon is passionate about the aviation industry and its people and has an aligned vision with BCAC to see an aviation and aerospace industry that is visible, connected, and thriving.

“I am very excited to be a part of BCAC and work to make a positive difference in our industry. I am especially interested in promoting the many exciting opportunities in aviation to youth across the province. When at BCIT, I was overwhelmed with how inspiring and welcoming the aviation community is and I am truly proud to be a part of it and take on this leadership role.  Aviation in this province is very diverse and has some great technology to share and I am looking forward to meeting and sharing ideas with BCAC members,” said McKibbon.

“I really admire Vanessa and all the work she has done as Executive Director, ” said Ms. McKibbon of outgoing Executive Director, Vanessa Griffiths, “and will continue growing the profile of aviation in B.C.”.
