Boeing opens interiors facility for Dreamliner

Dec. 5, 2011, North Charleston, S.C. - Boeing has opened its new interiors fabrication facility in North Charleston, S.C. to manufactures interior parts for Boeing's 787.

The Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina team will use the latest lean processes and tools to efficiently produce interior components to match 787 production rates at Boeing South Carolina.

The 300,000 square foot facility will manufacture stowbins, closets, partitions, class dividers, floor-mounted stowbins used by flight attendants, overhead rests for flight crews and flight attendants, video control stations and attendant modules.

Boeing said that it is planning to deliver the first set of interior components to its South Carolina plant in 2012.
