Bombardier Aerospace was recognized in the Transportation category for having implemented its Design for Environment (DfE) approach, a new way of developing aircraft. The DfE approach is applied at the earliest stage of aircraft development and spans design, material selection, responsible sourcing, manufacturing, safety testing, and customer engagement during use, maintenance and end-of-life.

The DfE team is integrated within core engineering, which facilitates their involvement at the earliest stages of the design and development process. It is responsible for implementing full lifecycle analysis (LCA) on new products and screening LCA on legacy products.

“Through these and other actions, Bombardier is taking a leadership position within the industry and setting high standards for environmental protection and innovation,” said Hélène V. Gagnon, vice president, public affairs, communications and corporate social responsibility, Bombardier Aerospace. “We are proud to be recognized with an ECR Award, which is a tribute to our employees, who work every day at shaping Bombardier’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.”
