Under the terms of the agreement, CAE will select, assess and train up to 50 new professional pilots over the next five years for the airline. CAE is currently recruiting cadets and aspiring pilots can apply now at www.caeoaa.com/Volotea.

Starting in the fall of 2017, the first group of Volotea’s cadets will begin the EASA theoretical knowledge at CAE’s training centre in Madrid, followed by flight training in Phoenix, AZ, USA and Oxford, U.K., before returning to Madrid to complete Airbus A320 type-rating training. Upon successful completion of their training program, graduates will be employed by Volotea, and will have experienced pilot training following the highest industry standards in three of CAE’s global locations.

“At Volotea, we pride ourselves in delivering an outstanding and safe flight experience. We achieve this level of excellence by hiring and developing highly qualified personnel,” said Carlos Muñoz, founder and chief executive officer, Volotea. “As we grew over the years, CAE has been an excellent partner, supporting our pilot sourcing and training needs. Mentoring a CAE cadet pilot training program was thus the next logical step, having experienced first-hand the quality of pilots trained by CAE. As such, we are delighted to launch this new cadet pilot training program with our training partner, and we are confident that CAE will train our future pilots in line with our mission.”

“The demand for professional pilots in the European continent is on the rise and we are proud to support the creation of Volotea’s future captains, building on our training partnership,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE’s group president, Civil Aviation Training Solutions. “The expansion of this training agreement is a testament to CAE’s commitment to provide our airline partners with comprehensive training solutions, and to support their increasing need for professional pilots. We look forward to training Volotea’s crews long into the future”.

CAE has been Volotea’s training partner of choice since the beginning of the airline’s operations in 2012. Since then, CAE has been providing Volotea with pilot and cabin crew training, including Airbus A319 type-rating and CAE instructor-led recurrent pilot training. In addition, more than 40 graduates from CAE’s training academies in Amsterdam, Brussels and Oxford have been selected and recruited by the airline over the past three years.
