June 5, 2009 – On Sunday June 7 at 11:00 a.m., visitors to the Canada Aviation Museum
can
travel back in
time and experience the sounds and smells of vintage aircraft in its natural element as Mr.
Rob Erdos flies in the Vintage Wings of Canada’s elegant Beech Staggerwing D-17S
biplane from the golden age of aviation.
This first visit
of the Museum’s new season of Vintage Wings of Canada Sunday Flying
Visit Program will
certainly be inspiring as the 1943 aircraft that will touch ground at the Museum served as
military transport during the Second World War. One Sunday per
month, from June
to September, the foundation aviators will not only fly in a living piece
of our aviation
heritage, but will also interact with visitors to give them an idea of
just
what it feels like
to fly these unique time capsules.
Vintage Wings of
Canada is a not-for-profit foundation devoted to preserving and
operating the largest
collection of airworthy vintage aircraft in Canada. Their goal is to
inspire and educate
future generations about the historical significance of our aviation
heritage and to
demonstrate these aircraft are more than just metal, fabric, and wood
artefacts.
