The airline, a division of IMP Group Ltd., has been focused on chartered flights since ending its scheduled airline service in 2006.

However, CanJet says in a news release that its business in Atlantic Canada has declined and it hasn't had an active aircraft based in Halifax for some time.

The company says the flight attendants will receive severance and can move to other CanJet locations in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

The airline still has about 440 seasonal and permanent flight attendants located in those cities.
