The airline's general manager, Margaret Meng, says the airline plans to increase Vancouver flights during the summer and make the daily trips permanent as of Nov. 1.
British Columbia's premier, Gordon Campbell, credits the exposure of the Vancouver Olympics for driving demand to the province's largest city.
The provincial government estimates the added daily flights will have an economic impact on the region worth $8 million dollars to Canada's GDP and $5 million in wages.
The Chinese government recently granted Canada "approved destination status,'' which allows Canadian tourist operators to advertise and market in China.
