Dr. Steve MacLean named as president of the Canadian Space Agency

Canada applauds the appointment of Dr. Steve MacLean as President of
the Canadian Space Agency by the Honourable Jim Prentice,
Minister of Industry.

Sept. 3, 2008, Ottawa, Ont. – The Aerospace Industries Association of
Canada applauds the appointment of Dr. Steve MacLean as President of
the Canadian Space Agency by the Honourable Jim Prentice,
Minister of Industry. AIAC is also pleased by the determination of the
Minister to move the CSA forward on a long-term space plan.
"We fully trust that Dr. MacLean's impressive experience provides him
with the capacity and the vision necessary to accomplish this important
mission given to him by the Minister," states Dr. Claude Lajeunesse, President
and CEO of AIAC.
"The elaboration of a comprehensive long-term space plan based on
consultations with major stakeholders is crucial to the success of the
Canadian Space Program, and we want to offer Dr. MacLean our support and full
collaboration in that respect," added Dr. Lajeunesse. "Its success will also
depend on a close collaboration between industry, academia and government.
AIAC is committed to facilitating this partnership" concluded Dr. Lajeunesse.

aerospace products are exported. AIAC represents the interests of 400
aerospace companies across Canada.
