• COPA’s Board of Directors – Call for Nominations: – COPA is seeking leaders amongst its network to join COPA’s Board of Directors and represent members in six regions: Newfoundland and Labrador; Nova Scotia Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick; Northern Ontario; Manitoba and Nunavut; Saskatchewan; and Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Nominations (including self-nominations) are being accepted between November 24, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. ET and January 2, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET. • Peterborough Aeronautical Study – NAV CANADA is undertaking an aeronautical study to assess the requirements for the provision of Air Traffic Service (ATS) and aviation weather services at the Peterborough Airport (CYPQ). The study aims to determine if any issues exist, and what mitigations may be required if changes are recommended to the provision of ATS and aviation weather services at the Peterborough Airport. • Aeronautical Information Circulars (AICs) – NAV CANADA has published their Aeronautical and Service Updates, including details of ADS-B within Canadian Domestic Airspace, the Interim Phase of the NAVAID Modernisation Program and the implementation of Trigger NOTAMS. The ADS-B in Canada AIC can be found here, with note to the move of the mandate for Class C,D and E airspace to 2028. • New RPAS Engagement Approach – Following the end of the first term of the Canadian Drone Advisory Committee (CanaDAC), Transport Canada are introducing a new method to engage with RPAS stakeholders, that will be active in Spring 2024. The approach will include a policy stream, an operations stream, and a regulations stream. Details for this can be found here, with more to be released by Transport Canada in the new year.
• Giving Back to General Aviation this Holiday Season – Interested in giving back? New in 2024, COPA will be building a fund to offer introductory flights to aspiring pilots in partnership with local flight schools through funds raised from the COPA Flight Safety Foundation.
