Embraer reports strong first quarter

May 4, 2011, Sao Joes dos Campos, Bra. - Embraer has reported a profit of $105m during the first quarter of 2011 compared with the profit of $24m it reported during the same period in 2010.

The Brazilian aircraft maker reported a 1.5 per cent drop in sales to R1.76bn ($1.08bn) over the revenue it reported during the same period last year.

Embraer has boosted its share of the commercial aviation market to 71 per cent, up from 62 per cent last year.

During Q1 of 2011, the company delivered 20 jets to the commercial aviation market and eight to the executive aviation market which included six light jets and two large jets.

Embraer had an order backlog worth $16bn at the end of the first quarter of 2011, equating to an increase of $400m over the firm order backlog at the end of 2010.
