Nov. 24, 2009 – A pilot and passenger were uninjured after the plane they were in had to make an emergency landing at a Calgary area airport.

The pilot realized something was wrong as he prepared to land Monday afternoon at Springbank Airport, west of Calgary.

He did a fly-by the control tower and officials determined that the plane's front landing gear was not properly locked into place.

Emergency crews gathered around the landing strip and when the plane touched down, the landing gear collapsed, tipping the plane's nose down into the ground.

The plane skidded for more than 200 metres before it stopped on the runway.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating.

The plane is owned by ORTHOSHOP Geomatics, a Calgary-based company.
