Forty-four-year-old Luc Fortin was one of nine people who were on the plane that fell from the sky after an oil light triggered a return to the airport.

Fortin's father-in-law John Rayson told a news conference Saturday that the family is also grateful to the first responders who came to the aid of his son-in-law and the other passengers.

Fortin died in hospital about five hours after he was pulled from the burning wreckage on Thursday.

The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority says two more people remain in critical condition, including one person who had spinal surgery on Friday, while four people were in stable but serious condition.

A trust fund has been set up for Fortin's wife Dagne and the couple's 16-month-old daughter.
