Aug. 24, 2011, Calgary – WestJet Airlines says it's not interested in banning
Fluffy and Fido from airplane cabins.

The Canadian Medical Association is suggesting animals should
travel in the cargo hold because they present serious risks for
people with pet-related allergies.

But the Calgary-based discount carrier (TSX:WJA) says passengers
are kept apart if they say ahead of time that they're travelling
with a pet or that they have allergies.

WestJet also says its planes have good air filters to eliminate
allergens.

Another option is to offer passengers with allergies a different
flight with no dogs or cats on board.

Westjet says it has only had a handful of allergy-related
incidents in the last 18 months.
