March 25, 2009, Toronto – Field Aviation, specialists in aircraft modifications and conversions for specialized applications, has developed a unique galley water system for the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 airliner.  Field developed this system for Norway’s Widerøe Airlines, with initial orders for seven units.  One aircraft has been modified to date and is in service and Field will modify the remaining Widerøe Q400s at its Toronto facility once the aircraft are delivered from Bombardier.

Bombardier’s original “G1”galley and water system for the Q400 airliner is located in the rear passenger cabin and eliminates two revenue seats.  The Field-modified “G3” system allows Widerøe to install a full complement of 78 seats in its Q400 aircraft.

The entire fleet of seven Widerøe aircraft will have the Field G3 galley water system installed and operating by early 2010.  Field plans to offer its STC’d system to other Dash 8 Q400 aircraft worldwide.  Currently, orders and deliveries of the popular regional aircraft stand at close to 350.

Field Aviation has performed a number of interior modifications for customers internationally, including government agencies and corporations operating Bombardier regional and business aircraft.
Previous conversion contracts include mixed-class configurations (VIP/Economy seating) of the Dash 8 Series 200 and 300 turboprop aircraft, and CRJ700 jet aircraft. Field Aviation has also completed a new Challenger 850 aircraft (CRJ100/200 platform) for Bombardier Business Aircraft in a 16-passenger corporate shuttle configuration with VIP and business class seating.
