Fort McMurray Airport receives more expansion funding

Fort McMurray, Alta. - The Fort McMurray International Airport has received $25 million for its expansion project from the federal government, opening opportunities for more international and cargo flights.

On Friday, Health Minister Rona Ambrose unveiled the grant at the airport’s observation deck. Most of the funds will go towards the main terminal’s expansion and a runway extension. Two new general aviation taxiways will also be built, as well as an emergency crosswind runway.
