Sept. 24, 2008, Toronto – Yesterday's release of the Regional Transportation
Plan by Metrolinx was applauded by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority
(GTAA). The plan, which outlines the need for improved, integrated transit and
transportation infrastructure, has a focus on access to Toronto Pearson, but
more importantly, offers a far-sighted view of transportation for the region
well into the future.

According to Toby Lennox, GTAA Vice President, Corporate Affairs and
Communications the plan is a step in the right direction. "Metrolinx has shown
an understanding of the value which convenient access throughout the region
creates. By pointing out the need for effective transit options throughout the
region, this plan demonstrates the importance of moving people efficiently."

Metrolinx has identified in their plan a need to connect Toronto Pearson
and Union Station to create a reliable, sustainable direct link between the
region's two most significant mobility hubs. "With tens of thousands of
passengers using Toronto Pearson each and every day, it only makes sense to
have direct access to downtown," said Mr. Lennox.

The concept of the airport as a mobility hub connecting areas west of the
airport with all of Toronto is one which should be celebrated. Such forward
thinking shows that this plan is the result of thorough analysis of the
transportation needs of the community.

The GTAA looks forward to its continued work and consultation with
Metrolinx. The plan shows the value of integrating regional planning to meet
the needs of all municipalities. Support for the plan at all levels of
government is encouraged, as connectivity between Toronto Pearson and the
surrounding region benefits the economy in the form of increased tourism and
business development.

The GTAA is the non-share, not for profit authority that operates Toronto
Pearson. All revenue generated by the GTAA is reinvested back into the
airport. In 2007, 31.5 million passengers travelled through Toronto Pearson.
