Nov. 4, 2013, Montreal - Bombardier has lost its longstanding lead in business aircraft sales to competitor Gulfstream, third quarter results reveal.

November 4, 2013  By The Canadian Press

Bombardier delivered 36 aircraft for a total value of U.S. $1.38
billion during the latest quarter, compared to 38 for Gulfstream, worth
U.S. $1.96 billion, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers
Association.

Bombardier also trails Gulfstream in terms of value – U.S. $ 4.48
billion against U.S. $5.3 billion – but leads 120-103 when it comes to
aircraft sold in the first three quarters of 2013.

Deliveries of business for the entire industry were relatively stable
in the most recent quarter but were down 2.1 percent for the first nine
months of the year, with 421 aircraft were delivered.

Since the economic downturn, larger business aircraft such as Global
5000 and 6000 and the Bombardier Challenger 300 have sold better than
smaller planes like the Learjet.
