The Savannah-based company said site work is scheduled to begin
immediately on the 32-acre parcel, with completion of the project slated
for early 2015, the Savannah Morning News reports.

The center will accommodate more than 300 employees and approximately $900 million in parts and materials, the paper said.

Gulfstream’s Joe Drake,
vice president for real estate and facilities, made the announcement
Tuesday at the Savannah Economic Development Authority meeting at the
World Trade Center Savannah.

“This state-of-the-art center will allow us to
distribute parts not only here – to the world’s largest general aviation
parts and service center – but around the world as well,” said Drake.

Drake added, “In 2006, we announced a $300 million expansion that
would include 1,100 new jobs over seven years. Instead, we delivered
1,500 new jobs and $400 million in investment in roughly half the time.”

The Morning News reports that in 2010, Gulfstream announced another
expansion, committing to another $500 million in investment and another
1,000 full-time jobs over the next seven years. Three years into that
commitment, those 1,000 jobs have turned into 2,500, the paper adds.

Said Drake, “We added 1,000 new jobs in 2013 alone, and we’re still growing employees.”
