July 24, 2012: Safety was the number one priority when Harbour Air began investigating a replacement flight following system for its seaplane fleet. Harbour Air recognized the benefits of installing a common solution across its fleet, and increased situational awareness was a key requirement. They were looking for a solution that was easy to use, easy to service and provided reliable data. The system also needed to allow real time tracking of aircraft times for maintenance scheduling.

With these factors in mind, Harbour Air’s investigation led them to SkyTrac System’s portable flight following product, the DSAT-300. When asked why Harbour Air chose SkyTrac over competitor’s products, VP of Flight Operations and Safety Eric Scott replied, “SkyTrac’s reputation in the industry and feedback from current customers were a key deciding factor. They have the best software package comparatively, and upon touring their facility we realized that Harbour Air’s values mirror what we saw at SkyTrac Systems.”

Since installation, Harbour Air has seen the SkyTrac solution provide better situational awareness of the entire fleet and it enables us to notify customers with updated arrival times. When noise complaints are received, Harbour Air has the data available to address the concern and determine if their aircrafts were involved or not. When asked how he felt about the system, Scott responded, “Our entire team loves what the SkyTrac solution brings. SkyTrac is a family that treats their customers like part of the family.”

Kathleen Wallace, President and CEO of SkyTrac Systems commented, “We are pleased to welcome Harbour Air on-board; we are very excited to be chosen as their solution of choice, and we look forward to seeing how they develop their program.”
