Judy Foote steps down as Procurement Minister
The Hon. Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced her resignation from the federal Cabinet to spend more time with her family. She will step down as the Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity in Newfoundland when the House of Commons returns in September.
Jim Quick, president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), issued the following statement in response to Minister Foote’s announcement:
“On behalf of the Board and members of AIAC, I would like to thank Minister Foote for her dedicated service to Canadians. For more than 20 years she has held public office provincially and federally, including multiple Cabinet posts – a significant commitment to public service. We especially thank her for her leadership as Minister of Public Services and Procurement and her willingness to engage and work with industry to ensure that national procurement initiatives support Canadian companies, jobs and economic growth. We extend our best wishes to Minister Foote as she embarks on this new stage in her life, and we look forward to working with her successor to ensure continued partnership and engagement between government and industry on public procurement issues.”
