Liberals sweeping Ornge mess under the rug?

May 17, 2012, Toronto - The opposition parties are accusing the governing Liberals of trying to sweep the Ornge scandal under the rug.

They say the Liberals are refusing to agree to extra sittings of a legislative committee that's examining the troubled air ambulance service, which is currently under a criminal probe.

The Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats say there are only two days of hearings left and the committee needs to continue its work over the summer.

The Tories say the government is blocking the committee's work because it doesn't want to expose the lobbying efforts of Liberal insiders who worked for Ornge.

Government house leader John Milloy is dismissing the accusations, saying the committee has already sat for 29 hours and heard from 33 witnesses.

But the NDP says there are many other key witnesses the committee needs to question, including ousted Ornge CEO Chris Mazza.
