Dec. 13, 2010, Montreal – Mechtronix Systems Inc. today announced the
successful qualification of the Ascent Turboprop Trainer installed at
the Antanas Gustaitis aviation institute of Vilnius Gediminas Technical
University (VGTU).

The simulator was acquired as part of the Government renovation program for aviation training covering the period 2008-2013. The FSTD is configured as a Beech King Air 200 with conversion kits to single and multi engine piston which enables the university to use it for MCC as well as IR and VFR courses. The unit, installed at the University’s training premises in Vilnius was qualified JAR FSTD A FNPT IIMCC and FNPT II by the Civil Aviation Administration of Lithuania.

“This successful qualification of our Ascent® Turboprop Trainer™ is a logical achievement following the great work Mechtronix has been providing since the day they won the University’s tender”, said Jonas Stankūnas, Director of Antanas Gustaitis' Aviation Institute of VGTU. “Mechtronix professional team has been very flexible; they customized the simulator to fit our requirements when necessary and we are extremely happy with the result. We now own an innovative simulator to offer IR and MCC courses to our pilot students providing them with a high-class professional ab-initio training syllabus. With such high level training, our students raise their chances to succeed in their professional pilot career.”

“We are very happy with the successful qualification of the University’s turboprop trainer and we trust their aviation institute will benefit greatly from offering flight training in such innovative technology”, added Mechtronix Systems President Hervé. “At Mechtronix, we put great emphasis on the continuous improvement of our customer’s satisfaction and when Vilnius Gediminas Technical University states that they are glad with our work, this is the biggest reward for us.”

The Ascent Turboprop Trainer is configured as a twin turboprop modeled after the B200 and reconfigurable to single and multi engine piston aircraft – Cessna 172, Piper Seneca V. The highly realistic flight models make the transfer of training to the aircraft more efficient; the FFS-quality Raster/xT Image Generator (IG) from RSI and Full HD projectors offer superior definition, contrast, brightness and refresh rate. Equipped with a Garmin GNS 430, the FSTD also features Mechtronix’ semi-closed Instructor Operating Station (IOS) providing an ergonomic environment to facilitate instructor/student interaction.
