May 26, 2010, Montreal – Mechtronix Systems Inc., an MWC company, a world leading manufacturer of Flight Simulation Training Devices, today announced the successful certification of the Ascent(R) XJ Trainer(TM) installed at Romanian Aviation Academy’s (RAA) flight training facility in Bucharest. The Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD), configured as a generic twin-engine heavy jet enables RAA to complete their ATPL syllabus with MCC training and jet orientation courses, better preparing their students for Type Rating training. The Ascent(R) XJ Trainer(TM) has been certified JAR FSTD A FNPT II MCC under EASA regulations by the Romanian local aviation authorities (AARC).

“We are very pleased with the successful certification of our Ascent(R) XJ Trainer(TM) and we were impressed by the outstanding professionalism of Mechtronix’ team of experts who ensured a smooth qualification process”, said Mr. Sorin Cristian Rosca, Training Director at RAA. “Our new synthetic trainer enables us to provide our airline customers with highly qualified pilot students well trained for MCC and who have been introduced to the jet environment. This new device is a real gain for our students and our academy as it will increase efficiency and enable us to maximize our price/training capability ratio.”

“We are highly proud of this new achievement of the Mechtronix’ team who made sure that RAA’s FSTD be qualified smoothly, according to schedule and with great results during the certification process”, said Mechtronix Systems’ President Hervé. “The Ascent(R) XJ Trainer(TM) proves once again to be ideally suited for prestigious Flight Training Organizations such as RAA who will optimize its training curriculum while bridging the gap between general and commercial aviation worlds. We trust RAA will provide their airline customers with highly-qualified next generation pilots.”

The Ascent(R) XJ Trainer(TM) is equipped with a conversion kit to a Regional Turboprop and fully functional EFIS, EGPWS, FMS, TCAS, and weather radar. The new device will familiarize RAA’s students with the automated flight deck, systems complexity, handling quality and performance of a large commercial jet while offering exceptional fidelity via a FFS-quality Image Generator (IG) and Full HD projectors. The FSTD features a 180° x 35° FOV and Continuous Earth Real Terrain System (CERTS) providing outstanding visual scenery realism.
