Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) provided funding towards the Aerospace Industry Association of British Columbia (AIABC) on behalf of the Canada West Aerospace and Defence Industries Association, for their participation at the Canadian Pavilion at the Farnborough International Airshow, one of the world's largest international trade shows for aerospace equipment and technology.

"The Farnborough International Airshow is a great venue to promote Western Canada's competitive edge and ensure that our companies have the tools they need to succeed in today's competitive global environment," said Minister Yelich. "Our government is proud to support this sector, which strengthens our economy and creates jobs and opportunities in our communities."

WD's contribution of close to $40,000 is helping to showcase Western Canada's strengths to international Prime Contractors. It allows the Canada West Aerospace & Defence Industries Association to ensure that western Canadian firms are well-positioned to compete for Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRBs) and other opportunities associated with federal government Major Crown Projects.

Western Economic Diversification Canada is committed to advocating on behalf of western Canadian industry in the development and application of the federal procurement and Industrial and Regional Benefits policy. WD is also a business facilitator, partnering with, and promoting western Canadian firms and organizations to Prime Contractors that have IRB obligations.
