“MHICA continues to be a vital part of our aerospace community, and we’re grateful that they continue to feel at home in Mississauga,” said Mayor of Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie. “Since opening their first facility in Mississauga over 10 years ago, MHICA has seen steady growth, expansion and development which has had a significant positive economic impact on our city.”

Bonnie Brown, director of economic development for Mississauga describes the city’s aerospace manufacturing sub-sector as the largest across all major Canadian centres by total employment and number of businesses. “We know that aerospace is an important part of our city’s future and its growing economy,” said Brown. Mississauga’s aerospace cluster is comprised of airlines, aerospace manufacturing, airport services and support services for aerospace manufacturers.

Mississauga recently ranked second in fDi Magazine’s Aerospace Cities of the Future 2018/19 Report for innovation, attractiveness and strategy in the aerospace sector. The magazine, which focuses on the business of globalization, also cited Mississauga as having the most aerospace businesses and employment in all of Canada.

“MHICA’s growth over the past 12 years has been consistently supported by the City of Mississauga,” said Mike McCarthy, CEO, MHICA. “The city played a key role in helping us establish our first facility in Meadowvale in 2007. Then again in 2012, the city worked with us to help create our existing 270,000-square-foot Mississauga plant on Northwest Drive.” McCarthy continues to point to Mississauga’s business culture and its educated, energetic talent. “MHICA is proud to help lead the growth and strength of the aerospace industry in Mississauga.”
